It has really improved both of our kids' skating, particularly for our daughter. She really enjoys hockey. I think she wasn't that sure at first and its really helping her be more confident. She loves it now.

Meet your instructor

Meet coach Cory Sveistrup! He’s been helping to create smiles within the Huntington Hills Community Association’s Shinny program for around 10 years. Seeing everyone succeed, have fun, and build confidence when they’re put into a supportive environment is what keeps him coming back. Together he and the team’s main goal is for the players to learn to love the game of hockey. Cory believes that the best thing about the program is that “kids get to be kids” on the ice without the fear of doing something wrong. Each session is built around the philosophy that hockey is often easier to learn when there’s no pressure. For those looking to join, Cory says the program is a great balance between skill development and having fun. In his spare time, you can catch him watching hockey, playing guitar, and working with his brother as a small business owner.
